Flamingos and Ice Cream

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Remember that? What is it about this sweet treat that makes even the fussiest eater say “aye”?!

There’s no woe that a cone can’t conquer.

Ice cream has actually had its own evolutionary process. From the Far East to Europe to revolutionary America, this cold treat has never ceased to gain popularity from the masses. Who knew that milk, cream, and sugar could blend into such an iconic dessert?

Ice Cream in a Cold Climate

While Minnesota is known for its long, harsh winters, it should also be known for its hot and humid summers. Nothing sounds better than a cold spoonful (or lick) of delicious ice cream during the heat of July or August. Although grocery stores sell pints and buckets by the freezer full, why not go for a unique experience while supporting a small business?

America was built upon local patronage.

Do Tell

We’ve arrived!

Enter Flamingo Ice Cream, a cute and colorful ice cream parlor located in Fridley. Set into a nondescript strip mall with plenty of parking, it boasts small-town charm with a cool variety of ice cream flavors such as Barbie’s Dream, Lemon Blueberry Cardamom, and Midnight Snack to name but a few.

What a sight to see.
Flamingos up close and personal.

Although I’m a vegetarian most of the time, I’m not a fanatic and do relish some sweets now and then. I opted for the Lemon Basil Sorbet which was smooth and tasty. My son couldn’t resist good ‘ole Cookies and Cream.

Table for two with our two scoops.

In addition to ice cream and sorbet, they also offer fountain-type of soda pop in cans, candy, and fudge. Chocolate Covered Twinkies and Chocolate Potato Chips – wow, just wow! So the next time you’re in this neighborhood, swing in with your sweet tooth and support their shop!

A wall of sugary sweets and treats – something for everyone.

Note: This is not a sponsored post. I really enjoy visiting local small businesses and supporting their endeavors…I hope to feature more shops in the future!
